Build a tribe of 14,000. What was I thinking? Now I realize the most important part of building a tribe is to create. Not just create but really have something to say. To speak with the heart and soul.
This year I vow to create EVERY SINGLE day. I’ll paint and write every step of the way.
First project of the year is the love book….
-there are no impossibilities
I can’t believe how creative these kids are. “You guys are artists. WOW” Seriously I am surprised at how much fun it was to watch them take control and feel a part of something. Prior to this activity we were doing boring fill in the blank busy work, the theme was how families work together. The discussion is awesome but busy work can be boring.
The moment I said your ticket to craft time is finishing these few pages, well I never saw them more focused. I showed them my sample and they were blown away. We had a great discussion. What usually takes an hour took a mere 20 minutes! Art made these kids smile and did we learn about families that day, Y-EAH!
These kids were sharing and creating! I could feel the energy and words that remind me of my purpose, words I’ll never forget. This is the best day ever! When I gave the kids compliments on their amazing skills, they simply said,” I’m just doing my best.” I watched as they were filled with joy from the mere scraps of paper, foam, ribbons and fabric I gave them. It felt amazing. Literally they were old scraps, scraps of projects from the past. But just the right pieces for their masterpieces. I wish I would have taken pictures. They encouraged each other too.
Yeah this was one of the best days ever. No one can take that from us. As for my purpose well, I’ll continue to share art with the world. I got books to publish, and …
…there are no impossibilites
Seriously writing a book is hard. I love the painting. The stories practically write themeselves. BUT it’s the editing mind games that twist you up. Do I keep this? Who are these characters? What’s the message? Will I make the kids smile? Bartholomew makes me smile?
At some point I began writing because this story was filled with lessons I need to read, lessons I need to live.
Ana and Geogre Book Ending
What a lesson to learn from. Some dogs want to fly. Some foxes want to sing. Some bears want to paint. Some rabbits rather grow strawberries. Why not. For when you explore and listen to the voice that tells you the truth, you discover there’s a world of wow-a world of no impossibilities.
I have two books written. What I love most about these book projects is that I am learning to let lose and just create. I am learning to listen to curiosity.
I’ve grown since I painted the first wise tree. For every wash and texture that went wrong, I learned–learned how to find my place, to practice and FLOW. Yeah I’ll write books for while. I rewrote the Ana and George. Ana isn’t a bee anymore. Not sure what animal she’ll be.
I came across the loveliest work twice. A giraffe who stands tall, his neck becoming part of the pattern of birds flying in the sky. The awesome quote treads,” I’m like a bird.” What a wonderful idea!
And the other is an I Heart Guts collection. It’s cute, funny, and unmistakable.
Both of these are unmistakable and creative. Both are created by artists who simply did.
-There are no impossibilities
You walk as you always do and then all of a sudden there it is–a PINK TREE. Ideas and creativity are like this.
I’ve been reading a few books on creativity and listening to artists talk about their experiences. It’s the pink tree in a park full of green trees that becomes the purple cow– Seth Godin’s purple cow.
I believe that every person in the world is a pink tree in a field of green ones. It takes courage because who knows what “they” will think. Ideas are pink trees too. They happen but I ask myself, Have I have really been aware? This an interesting idea. I want to explore and express tis notion with my art.
This book is amazing. I have seen it many MANY times before. After many times of thinking abut how much I love the book cover I finally am reading it. I mean there it was, always being a pink tree.
I am so glad this tree is in the book. Now that I think of it maybe this tree could make the cover?
- It’s good to let loose with an idea to see what happens.
- I just did what I wanted splattering the paint here and there
- oh wow what a relief that was
- curiosity thrives on change and creatives need change
- take a big brush and dip it in various tones of pink
- let your eyes do the painting
- layer from light to dark
- make sure in between layers dry
- This is a nice addition to the wise trees book.
-Imagine all the impossibilities that are possible
