Digitizing Phase

The digitizing has begun. The next phase is putting it all together. I already have a few pages that need to be redone.

Who’s my audience? Kids. That means I need to make sure my lettering is easy to read. And the color scheme, well this tree seems all wrong. As much as I like it, it has to go. There’s not enough breeze among the leaves. The I’ll be here sentiment, needs breeze. I pressed down too hard on the paper which made for thick texture. All wrong.

For a moment I doubted but there can be no doubt. Coincidently, I read this very thought today! I ‘m happy to be working on this book. I’ll revise knowing I’m writing for an audience of one. Me.

I’m grateful for the good dinner I had and now it’s time to continue the digitizing.

3 Painting Projects

Exploration projects are under way and I’m about to paint a watermelon for a fun first day of summer collaboration. Life is good!

Crayon layering technique with watercolor. What a twisted idea! I’ve done this before but this time it came out awesome. I guess the trick is to add a little pressure as you draw with crayons. Then go over it with a pretty saturated watercolor wash.

Next up was the thumbprint and fingerprint flower. Now this is a color scheme I thought about. The idea is for the reader to think on what fascinates them. What are they working on right now? It’s clear what my answer is.

Last but not least is string art. I balled up the string and stamped my way all over the paper.

All of these are simple but they create beautiful art. I’ve been working on my lettering too. Oh and this tree will be part of the Live Your Story Book.

Tomorrow’s another day! Yeah. Ok, watermelon painting time.

Oh Texture

Playing around with some dry brush techniques. I like this idea for the tree, the final go on and live your life tree. This tree will also be on the book cover.

The tiny hearts fluttering out could resemble butterflies or leaves.

I’ll paint and test out color schemes. I can’t believe I’m almost done with this book.

I’ve said that the whole point of this book is to simply let my ideas flourish. To take my time and allow my ideas to take hold.

This texture is simple and beautiful. I say its the sporadic and the unplanned that lead to the most amazing experiences.

Wisdom Tree

There was an Oprah speech a Sean Wess podcast I haven’t lsitened to in a long time, Laren Daigle’s You say and a movie.

BUT as I hand lettered my words all I could think about was Muhammad Ali’s rhyming. I ‘ll give it a try.

The only world I want to listen to makes me feel like I can do.

With her breeze she always puts me at ease.

The sun warms me. There is no doubt, I clearly see.

I will paint what I want

I got talent and I’m gonna flaunt.

You see flaws. Please put away your claws.

Cuz I got the breeze, she’s telling me keep walking with ease

There is no greater power than love,

I’ve got love

I swim among the most beautiful doves.

Today I gave a writing lesson to a first grade class. It was brilliant and I discovered …I’m a writer. This week was incredible. I sat down and I drew letters. I drew. The more I spend time in nature, the more I can say girl, Flow. Just let go and create. You got this now get out there because…there are no impossibilities

Fingerprint Tree

I love this tree. Is there someway I can include this in my book? Yeah probably not. Literally, I placed myself in my art. Well, just my fingerprints but it was so much fun!

The paint was old and by old I mean the water separated from paint…if that’s possible. Ugh what a mess! But I was determined to paint something awesome.

Fall color palette

My curiosity was invited to play so what else could I do but, PLAY.

I mixed my color with very little water, dipped my finger in color and panted. I painted until my tree looked right…paint with my eyes not my hands is a genius idea. Thanks Michelangelo.

My trunk is lookin’ good. Which brings me to fall. Fall is the time to shed all negativity, doubt, fear, worry and get ready for the beauty to come. The beautiy is all the awesome ideas to come.

This fall tree is in my wise trees book.

bearbeauty

I’m ready to launch my first book, making sure all the details are taken care of.

I’ve started working on an elf book, she’s Ellie now. Her friends Gus, Ralphie and Nikki help her realize that togetherness and love build the biggest and bestest tree in the world…as Ellie would say.
