3 Painting Projects

Exploration projects are under way and I’m about to paint a watermelon for a fun first day of summer collaboration. Life is good!

Crayon layering technique with watercolor. What a twisted idea! I’ve done this before but this time it came out awesome. I guess the trick is to add a little pressure as you draw with crayons. Then go over it with a pretty saturated watercolor wash.

Next up was the thumbprint and fingerprint flower. Now this is a color scheme I thought about. The idea is for the reader to think on what fascinates them. What are they working on right now? It’s clear what my answer is.

Last but not least is string art. I balled up the string and stamped my way all over the paper.

All of these are simple but they create beautiful art. I’ve been working on my lettering too. Oh and this tree will be part of the Live Your Story Book.

Tomorrow’s another day! Yeah. Ok, watermelon painting time.

Summer Plans

new art for the shop

…and she’s at work on five to six new titles at all times. I read these words in an article about Danielle Steel and her career. What- wait- that’s the thought I had today, as I contemplate my summer plans.

Here’s a list

  • finish drawing for live your story and publish that book
  • work on hand lettering a word with in a timed session. I know, I’ll call it word wall.
  • draw cute animals…I am on the lookout for a good tutorial book
  • collage animals for the book
  • road trip book which is based on last summer’s road trip

I’m excited!
