Life Tree With Blue Tones?

Does this tree with all it’s blue tones work? Does it convey that others will try but you live your life thought?

The emotions here are sadness. compassion, comfort, trust, faith, love, melancholy and…

I love the words live your life placed right under the tree metaphorically taking the place of roots.

We’ll see because it’s gonna be a good week.

painting trees with acrylic

This is the last and final tree for the book. It’s a weird tree but it’s beautiful. My ending thoughts for the book are that we should allow trees to grow however they choose.

We should protect our trees, give them water and allow them to grow.

Should we not do the same with each other. Yes I think so!

This book is both a love for people and nature. This notion is the premise for a new book.

painting trees with crayons

melted crayon painted tree

Love this technique. Melted crayons are hard to paint with because they quickly dry up. I was forced to hurry up and paint.

Not sure I’d try this again, as it ruined some brushes. Melting crayons made such a mess.

But this is one of my favorite trees because I fed my curiosity. This has to happen ALL THE TIME.

I must keep testing ideas and if it works great! If not then at least I had fun!

Who Am I?

I keep fighting voices in my head that tell me I’m not enough. …Every single lie tells me I will never measure up…I love this song.

This happens often and too much really. I guess it comes with the creative process. It comes with play.

It’s with my sketches. My books. With the children. With my family. With my spirit.

Who am I? If I had one chance to show the world my stance, what do I say? I have lots of chances and I believe in all of my ideas!

new art

Sometimes fear shows up. It could be a doubt, mistake or a lazy moment that makes you think if only I had more time.

Show up fear that’s ok. I got this! I realize that I have nature’s favor. I walk with the breeze in my hair. I walk with the sun against my cheek.

This week I want to enjoy every moment. Focus on my art. Buy ten ISBN’s and publish Wise Trees in paperback. It’s ready. I’m ready.

My days, creative process in all, is a roller coaster ride. There’s fear. There’s thrills. There’s fun. There’s fear. You leap in and out of your seat having the time of your life.

I think I found inspiration for today’s painting and perhaps the overall feel of my website.

flower stickers coming soon…

I gotta be me…

More love sketches

Some sketches were cool and others I have no idea what was going on…

It’s almost Friday and why does that bother me. Maybe because aside from the kids I love, I really want to work on art more and have this be my full time gig. Oh to be among those who say yes I do what I love and earn a good living at it. It’s a journey and I’m on my way.

Heart shaped stickers

Here I am working on a book and finishing my last illustration. Then I get this amazing idea to paint hearts.

I do love hearts. I do love the idea that one project leads to another. Live your story is a fun book for kids to look at…the grown up ones too.

Painting objects with embedded hearts led me to another book idea. I want all of my books to give the reader a sense of , “I can do that.”

Art is a Process

This past weekend I went WAY back to my humble beginnings on Skillshare.

In some ways I feel as though I’ve not made progress. On the other hand I feel I have.

Time and time again I look at my work and notice:

6. A lot of the new art for my new book is amazing.

The most important lesson is

When I show up everyday

I don’t care what you say.

Yeah I got a plan

I’ll paint what I can.

Even the ugly art is

dear to my heart.

Because it’s the beauty that makes brilliant.

When I share my thoughts there’s no I can’t.

What I see in my mind

On the canvas it sometimes doesn’t look fine.

Oh but the idea is wonderful.

Keep painting and creating, let go of the bull.

I did take a little break from the book this weekend

…and painted some fun confidence idea trusting painting and always makes me feel like there are no impossibilities

Finger Painting With Acrylic and Watercolor

I’m looking for a cool background or pattern for my poems and quotes.

I’ve been playing with acrylic paint and watercolor of course.

acrylic paint stripe background

You’ve seen the one with crayola here Note to self, paint more of these. There’s something about mixing color that excites me. You add color and drop it on the page like this and spread it. There’s no structure. The paint just takes on a life of it’s own.  I love that.

I love dropping drops of paint and then using a flat brush to spread the paint in a horizontal motion. Use my  finger prints to create a pattern? Yes I will try that next time!

Instead I got this quote in my head and why not play around with it.

IMAG0076[1]

Oh dear I need more space! Oh but I do love this idea! I love the color. I used the dot method to grab a couple of colors and then paint….looks awesome but I want to go back to the drawing board with this one.

Here it is! Yes I am also testing different paper and this is a store paper bag. The purple paint is done in acrylic and the dots were done with watercolor paint.

Put your stamp on the world

I’m still going to try the fingerprint pattern.

Imagine all the impossibilities that are possible!
